The PADI Emergency First Response (EFR) course teaches you how to provide immediate care in a medical emergency — both in diving situations and everyday life. Through simple, hands-on training, you’ll learn essential skills like CPR, first aid, and how to use an AED, giving you the confidence to act when it matters most.

EFR is designed for everyone — no medical background required — and focuses on practical, real-world response skills that are easy to learn and remember. It’s also a required certification for the PADI Rescue Diver Course and an important step toward becoming a safer, more capable diver.

Whether you’re diving with friends, travelling, or at home, EFR gives you the tools to help others when they need it most.

Prerequisites


  • Age Requirement: Participants must be at least 10 years old.
  • No Prior Certification Required: No previous first aid or CPR certification is necessary to enroll in the course.

What Your Day Looks Like



Learn the Essentials

Your EFR day starts with a video and followed by an easy-going, interactive session where your instructor teaches you how to assess an emergency, protect yourself, and take control with confidence.


CPR & First Aid Practice

You’ll move straight into hands-on skill practice:

  • CPR and rescue breaths on manikins
  • Recovery position
  • Bandaging and basic wound care
  • Illness and injury assessments

Everything is demonstrated first, then practised until it feels natural.


Realistic Scenarios

You’ll put your new skills to the test with simple, real-life simulations — responding to unresponsive patients, managing bleeding, and working as a team in an emergency.


Duration

EFR is typically completed in half a day, making it a fast, practical, and valuable certification for both diving and everyday life.
