Discover Scuba Diving
The perfect way to try scuba diving without committing to a full course. At Blue Marlin Komodo, you’ll start with a relaxed briefing and an easy pool session, where your instructor introduces the basics and helps you get comfortable with the equipment.
The next day, you’ll enjoy two guided ocean dives at a beginner‑friendly Komodo site, exploring vibrant coral and marine life.
Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments are included, making it a safe, comfortable, and unforgettable first dive experience.

What You Learn
- Basic Scuba Equipment Familiarization: Understand the essential scuba gear, including the mask, fins, regulator, and buoyancy control device (BCD), and learn how to properly use them.
- Breathing Techniques: Learn the importance of controlled breathing underwater, including how to breathe slowly and deeply to conserve air and remain calm.
- Equalization Methods: Discover techniques for equalizing pressure in your ears and sinuses as you descend, ensuring comfort and safety during your dive.
- Underwater Communication: Master basic hand signals and communication methods used by divers to convey messages underwater, enhancing safety and teamwork.
- Safety Procedures and Emergency Protocols: Familiarize yourself with essential safety practices, including buddy checks, ascent procedures, and what to do in case of an emergency while diving.
What Your Days Look Like

Poolside Briefing
Start your adventure with a relaxed poolside briefing at our waterfront dive centre. Your instructor will walk you through the basics of scuba diving, how we stay safe underwater, and what your first ocean dives in Komodo will feel like — all in a calm, friendly environment right beside the training pool.

Open Q&A with your instructor to build confidence before getting in the water

Pool Session
Next, you’ll head straight into our training pool to get comfortable with the gear and experience breathing underwater for the first time. With your instructor right beside you, you’ll practice essential skills and build confidence before heading into the ocean.
What’s included:
- Getting familiar with your scuba equipment
- Breathing underwater and equalising safely
- Practising simple skills like mask clearing, regulator clearing, regulator recovery, and buoyancy control

Ocean Dives
The following day, it’s time for the real adventure. Hop aboard our speedboat and head to one of Komodo’s beautiful beginner-friendly sites. With your instructor by your side, you’ll complete two ocean dives, exploring vibrant reefs, colourful fish, turtles, and the incredible marine life Komodo is famous for.
What’s included:
- Two guided ocean dives with your PADI Instructor (max four divers per instructor — often fewer)
- Support from additional Divemasters for extra safety and comfort
- Optional photo and video packages from our professional dive team
- Around 45 minutes of dive time per dive, depending on air consumption
