What Do I Need To Start?
To start your PADI Divemaster course, you’ll need to be at least 18 years old, a certified PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent), have a valid EFR within the last 24 months, and around 40 logged dives under your belt — you’ll need 60 to finish.
If you’re not quite there yet, don’t worry. You can complete your Advanced, EFR, and Rescue with us first and roll straight into your Divemaster training once you’re ready. And if you’re just short on dives before starting, you’re welcome to fun dive with us until you reach the required number — it’s the perfect warm-up before the real adventure begins.

What Will My Training Consist Of?
The Divemaster program typically takes 4–8 weeks, and while you can complete it in the shorter end of that range, we strongly recommend giving yourself at least 6 weeks to get the most out of your training. We’re also super flexible — if you need time off, want to split your training, or plan to leave Komodo and return later, no problem at all. We’ll shape the program around your schedule so you can progress at your own pace.
Once you’re on the program, it’s full immersion from day one. You’ll be part of the Blue Marlin crew — jumping on boats, assisting real students, and experiencing what life’s actually like as a dive professional. It’s hands-on, it’s social, and it’s seriously fun. Expect early mornings, long days in the water, plenty of laughs, and that feeling of getting better every single dive.
You’ll help instructors run PADI courses, brief and guide certified divers, and fine-tune your own diving until it feels effortless. Along the way, you’ll get to grips with everything from dive planning and navigation to search and recovery and group management. You’ll also take part in workshops, theory sessions, and skill circuits that bring your training together — all with the support of our instructor team and your fellow DMTs.
And when it’s all done? You’ll celebrate the Blue Marlin way — with our legendary Snorkel Test!
